Solar PV Technology
Solar PV (Photovoltaics) is a type of solar energy technology. In general, this solar power system is mainly designed to convert sunlight into electrical energy. Today, photovoltaic (PV) systems are being installed on a global scale to reduce mankind’s carbon footprint.
Solar PV training at SHRDC provides a good understanding of an off-grid (SAPV) and on-grid (GCPV) Solar Photovoltaic system which is used as renewable energy throughout the whole world. Participants can gain a basic idea of the components required to form a Solar PV system.
Professional Solar PV System Training Centre
Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) is one of the leading Solar photovoltaic (PV) training centres in Malaysia, fully accredited by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia. Established in 2014, we have trained over 700 participants to date, birthing a skilled workforce for the sector.
SHRDC works in partnership with the Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA) and Solar PV service providers, towards providing upskilling, reskilling, and pipeline talent development programs. Our training facilities include purpose-designed classrooms, Solar PV workshops, and roof-top solar panels for hands-on learning and are supported by experienced trainers with a dedicated operations team.
Centre Of Excellence for Sustainable Energy
We officially launch our Centre of Excellence (COE) for Sustainable Energy on 13 May 2024. Clean energy is the way forward and SHRDC and our partners are at the forefront of helping your business pivot into the future. Our support ecosystem of various industry partners allows us to help equip your business with hardware and software solutions as well as technical and soft skills trainings to ensure that a seamless transition.

SEDA Malaysia Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (PV) System Design Course
Overview:
Strap in for our Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) Design Boot Camp! We’ll whisk you away on an electrifying journey, teaching you everything you need to know to become a GCPV whiz. Once you’ve aced the course, you’ll show off your incredible skills as a certified GCPV master.
This course will equip participants with the ability to:
- Developing Grid-Connected Solar PV Systems Tailored for Malaysia’s Climate.
- Becoming an Expert on Grid-Connected Solar PV Systems.
- Master standards for Off-Grid PV Systems in Malaysia.
(Note: the electrical connection between the inverter to the electricity supply (AC side) can only be undertaken by licensed electricians issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga)
Design and Sizing of GCPV-BESS Integrated System
Overview:
The BESS technical training program is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills required to design, install, operate, and maintain battery energy storage systems (BESS). The training provides a comprehensive understanding of BESS technology, its integration with renewable energy systems, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
This course will equip participants with the ability to:
- Handle and store systems safely, follow fire safety protocols, comply with regulations, and maintain systems effectively.
- Showcase knowledge of technical specifications and ensure compatibility between GCPV components and BESS.
- Develop and design efficient GCPV systems with BESS. Apply proper sizing techniques for both PV arrays and battery storage to meet specific energy demands.
From Zero to Hero: Rooftop Solar Installation And Maintenance Workshop
Overview:
This training teaches participants the basics of solar PV installation. It covers essential electrical concepts, components and the operation of single-phase and three-phase systems. The course includes hands-on practice with solar safety, system design, installation and maintenance.
This course will equip participants with the ability to:
- Understood basic concept of electricity.
- Identify the components of electrical circuits.
- Acknowledge single phase and three phase systems.
- Perform solar installation and electrical quantity measurement.
