Digital Twin Development

PLC Essentials for Industry 4.0

Smart Factory takes current manufacturing processes to Industry 4.0 standards: highly agile, efficient, and automated production lines capable of data generation and collation. Combined with analytics and machine learning, the factory of the future will have predictive and prescriptive capabilities, contributing to higher productivity & boundless innovation.

The Malaysian Smart Factory (MSF) 4.0 program @ SHRDC (Selangor Human Resource Development Centre) offers smart factory competency training through hands-on and online/remote learning approaches, ideal for relevant skillset and talent development towards an Industry 4.0 ready workforce in Malaysia.

The program provides hands-on experience using Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming methodologies and deploying the program on a digital twin to virtually commission automation systems. Participants will gain skills in creating a PLC program, design a virtual representation of physical systems, and deploying the PLC Program
on the digital twin.

In this program, participants would have hand-on experience in:

  • Determining the software and hardware requirements for PLCs
  • Identifying and drawing the PLC input(s) and output(s) wiring diagram
  • Constructing a PLC Program and deploying the program on a digital twin
  • Virtual commissioning of the automation system and evaluation of the developed PLC program logic sequence
  • Visualizing the key automation system and PLC Program Parameters through a Human Machine Interface (HMI)
